Taxis lurk just outside the exits from the airport and there are still taxi drivers who like to take non-locals the long way around the block in order to get them more money, although, admittedly, there aren’t as many as could be said a few years ago! But when everyone wants the London experience they want a taxi ride, so you are unlikely to be able to beat the queues to get one! Public transport in London, although not quite up to the standard on the continent, is still very good, but you’d be crazy to prefer to carry all your baggage instead of just throwing it in the boot.

The best thing you can do is hire a car from the Airport. With a variety of different makes of car and a car for any sized family. It would be madness not to hire a car when it’s so easy and convenient. You can be in and out incredibly quickly and on your way with a minimal amount of fuss and waiting. You also have the benefit of security and convenience. Instead of having to work out the transport schedules and have your journeys limited by public transport, you can use the car instead! Without hiring a car, everything is made ten times more difficult and it is all unnecessary.
