As part of this project, Virgin Atlantic was assigned their own dedicated check-in area, known as ‘Zone A’, which features a large sculpture and atrium. BAA also have plans for a £1bn upgrade of the rest of the terminal over the next ten years which includes the renovation of aircraft piers and the arrivals forecourt.

-Alternatively, if you are taking a right hand turn from Heathrow’s main exit you will come across BAA Heathrow Airport Logan Car Hire directly on the left, Yello Van Hire (although they do provide cars too!) up a side street on the left, and Avis Car Hire on the right. Going west on the M4 will result in you joining the M25; London’s ring road. If you following directions to find a particular destination, such as a hotel, then the M25 is probably where the instructions start. The reason for this is that it can be entered from all points around London, and exited at many different locations – just look out for your desired junction number and you will be fine.

A trip to London is always so much fun and I think that it can really be helped by having a car on hand. I have tried London with and without a car and found having a car a far better option especially with a young family in tow. We flew in to Heathrow and everyone was already tired and the prospect of having to wait around for a train was very daunting so we hired a car and it was fantastic.

It made travelling around so much quicker and easier and it gave the children a rest between the different places that we were visiting. They even had a nap at times, which I don’t think they would have been able to do on the tube or on a bus. They also seemed a lot more relaxed and able to walk further knowing that they would be able to sit down in the car when we were returning to the hotel. I found it better too as I do find it quite annoying waiting fro public transport and so being able to just get to the car and set off straight away was a lovely feeling for me. I guess we are lucky that my husband likes driving and so is happy to take us through London, which could be daunting for some, but was really very easy and I could have easily coped with it myself, had I needed to. I will definitely be hiring a car next time we visit the city too.
